Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12
Our very hectic lives are inundated with media and technology. We can stream 24-hour news and social media updates with the click of a button. Our phones are never more than an arm’s length away. It’s easy to become consumed by these distractions and allow them to command a significant portion of our time and attention. However Paul reminds us that we must make the intentional decision to quiet our lives so we are able to hear what is truly significant. When we silence these mundane distractions and do not allow them to claim our attention we are able to reflect upon what it means to love one another. These quiet moments allow us to choose love over fear, hope over despair, and remind us to be grateful for the blessings that surround us not just during the holiday season but every single day.
Father, today I dedicate every area of my mind, will, and emotions to you. Help me live my daily life as an example of your love. Amen.
